Scissor Lift Batteries
Scissor Lifts use 6 Volt deep cycle Golf Cart style batteries which are group size GC2.
The group size refers to the footprint of the battery or the physical dimensions (length, width, height). It is important to use the correct group size so the batteries will fit into the tray.
The majority of Scissor Lifts are 24 volt systems. This means each lift will use four 6 volt batteries, two on each side of the scissor lift. The weight of the batteries is important as they act as a counter balance. Each battery weighs 55-60 Lbs.
Deep cycle batteries are designed to deliver long run times. They can also withstand deep discharges on a regular basis. The amount of power that the battery can deliver is measured in Amp Hours (AH) so the higher the AH rating the longer the run time on the jobsite.
The most common battery type used in Scissor Lifts is flooded lead acid batteries. These are the most economical option but do require more maintenance.
You can also use an an AGM (sealed lead acid/ Valve regulated lead acid) battery which has many advantages. They are fully sealed so you do not need to maintain their fluid levels. They are also much more resistant to damage caused by vibration.
Choosing the proper battery combined with a regular maintenance program is vital to achieving years of worry free service from your scissor lift batteries.
