What Is SafeCharge™ Technology?

Volthium’s patented SafeCharge™ technology allows the battery to work with many existing lead-acid alternator-charging systems when paired with the Volthium SafeCharge current limiter.

The SafeCharge system regulates the current flowing from the alternator to the battery, helping protect the alternator from excessive demand. In many compatible applications, this eliminates the need for a conventional DC-to-DC charger and allows the battery to be installed without extensive changes to the existing electrical system.

Using the Volthium mobile app, installers can configure charging thresholds and current limits directly from a smartphone. The system then regulates charging automatically to help protect both the alternator and battery while maintaining reliable charging performance.

SafeCharge™ can also retain factory boost and combine functions commonly found in RV and marine electrical systems. This makes the battery particularly well suited to installations requiring both engine-starting and deep cycle performance from a single battery bank.

Deep Cycle and Starting Performance

Unlike a conventional deep cycle lithium battery, the Volthium PRO Series battery can supply up to 1100 CCA for compatible engine-starting applications while also providing 200Ah of deep cycle capacity.

This dual-purpose design makes it suitable for RVs, boats, commercial vehicles, and other installations where one battery bank may be required to operate onboard equipment and provide engine-starting power.

Cold-Weather Performance

The integrated temperature-management system helps the battery operate across a wider range of temperatures. Internal heating allows the battery to accept a charge in cold conditions.

Charging and discharging limits vary according to battery temperature and operating conditions. Always follow the limits and installation instructions provided in the Volthium technical data sheet.

Easy Installation

When used with the SafeCharge current limiter, the Volthium PRO Series battery can often be installed without major changes to the existing alternator-charging system. This can reduce wiring requirements, installation time, and overall system complexity in compatible RV, marine, trucking, and commercial vehicle applications.

The built-in on/off switch allows discharging to be disabled while charging remains available. This is particularly useful during storage because it helps prevent connected equipment and parasitic loads from gradually discharging the battery.
